Rolwaling Trekking region is one of the popular and exciting trekking regions in Nepal.
This region lies in the north central side of Nepal at a base of range of Himalayas separating Nepal and Tibet.
This region is populated by typical ethnic groups like Sherpa, tamang, chettri, and Brahmin etc. These people have their own religion and life style. Besides, this region famous for its richness in natural resources like evergreen forest, numerous spring waters, river, high hills and bio diversity of flora and fauna.
The lower part (1700-2500m) of this region is inhabited by ethnic groups like tamang, chettris and Brahmin who follow hindu religion. The upper part (2500-4100m) or most important part of this region is the Rolwaling valley lying at the base of high hills and mountains on both north and south side. The Rolwaling valley is inhabited by typical ethnic group called sherpas who have been living there since 600 years. The main attractions of this valley is the typical life style of Sherpas, a sacred lake omicho or 'milk lake'; Tsorolpa lake, the highest and biggest glacier in the world, wild yaks, goats etc, besides mt. 'Gaurishankar's view, and other snow capped mountain peaks like Tashi laptsa, Dorje lakpa, etc.
